Project #6

This is a fabulous project completed in the homeland last week.
Dear Old Dad was an art historian by trade, and he collected some original artwork along the way; mostly prints and engravings. What we had when he died were prints/engravings from approximately 1700-1750 which we took to an auction house. My sister and I felt that they were rather plain and had they been in color they would have been much more desirable; so we colored one in with colored pencils, as you do.

Before

After

We did not send the more colorful version of this print to auction,
preferring to keep it for ourselves given
the obvious improvements we had made.

Project #5

One more project before I leave for the airport and head out for the motherland.

Two scarves (or, a recently spotted alternative spelling for the plural of 'scarf'; scarf's. You know who you are Ginger Springs Day Spa).
I knitted these on size 15 circular needles, 200 stitches and you're away. These are great for using up random yarn from your stash. For those of you who have not been inducted into the secret Knit Masons society, you won't have understood a word of those last two sentences and I am certainly not going to be the one to break the sacred oath and explain any knitting jargon to you. I know these scarves look the same, but I promise I made two of them. Look closely and you will see; it's like a 'spot the difference' competition with no prizes or sense of accomplishment.

Testing testing 123

In a few hours I have to take a seven hour exam. I have not put a lot of preparation into this test. This is my strategy. We'll see how that works out for me.

I have a cold, which is no big deal but it does make me feel like this:
I'm actually thinking that outfit would be perfect to wear to my test; I was trying to figure out what one wears to an all day exam...
Taking a seven hour exam would be one thing if I was taking the bar, or becoming a brain surgeon, or taking over the world, but honestly taking this exam so that I can continue to bring home $2,000 a month just seems kind of.....ridiculous.

News from the home front

A quick update on having the 21 year old back home:

....because the trash can is just too far

And my favorite so far:

Random bacon sighting in my dining room.

Yup; that's what it's like.

Next project please...#4

WHAT a lot of bollox has been going on lately. This project has been finished for a while, I just haven't had a chance to sit down and launch it into the interwebs.

This was an easy one; some cheap towels, some packets of dye, some bits of fabric and voila!!
In days of olde (also in days of yore) when most words ended with 'e', people (women) would bind the frayed edges of their towels with bits of fabric to extend the life of the towel.

My mum used to dye her sheets when they got a bit manky, so she ended up with all these sheets in beautiful, unusual peacock colors. I was thinking about her when I dyed my towels. ( I dyed one of my sheets purple too, it came out lovely). I used fabric from my Stockpile for Armageddon, and also an old pair of pajamas that I really liked:

I can easily see myself dying all kinds of crap in the not-too-distant future...
See you on the dark side.
